Why are antibiotic-resistant infections dangerous?

These types of bacteria are particularly dangerous because they often leave the physician with very limited, or no choice of antibiotic for treating their patient's illness. Physicians are sometimes left scrambling to find uncommon combinations of antibiotics or even experimental antimicrobial agents to treat the infection.
